Electro-polishing stainless steel gives it a deep, chrome-like shine and helps protect the metal if it’s to be left outdoors.
The electro-polishing process initially involves pickling the metal, which draws any foreign bodies or contamination out of its surface. The actual polishing process is done by means of an electric charge.
The result is a protective skin on the surface of the metal, which is said to enhance the passivated coat. It’s this coating together with the chromium in the metal which is said to be able to heal over minor scratches to stop further degrading, adding durability.
